On February 27, Klára Šeďová participated as an opponent in the doctoral defense of Abraham Tadesse Bahta at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. His dissertation examined the potential for implementing dialogic teaching in Eritrea, focusing on the challenges and barriers that may hinder its successful adoption in low-resource educational settings.
Bahta’s research was strongly inspired by BOLD Lab’s work, particularly its insights into the complexity of implementing dialogic teaching. His findings highlight the structural, cultural, and pedagogical obstacles that can make this approach difficult to apply, especially in developing countries, where teacher training opportunities, classroom conditions, and educational traditions may not always support interactive, student-centered learning. His study contributes to the ongoing global discussion on how to adapt dialogic teaching to different educational contexts while addressing the challenges that educators face.
