Our colleague Jakub Vlček recently returned from a four-week research stay at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität in Jena (https://www.teach.uni-jena.de/), where he was welcomed as a visiting researcher of the Chair for Research on Teaching and Learning. The stay provided a unique opportunity to engage in awcademic exchange with leading scholars in the field of educational research and to further develop his doctoral project in an internationally inspiring environment.
During his stay, Jakub engaged in regular consultations with faculty members, particularly with Prof. Alexander Gröschner, focusing on the theoretical foundations and methodological design of his dissertation. These insightful discussions not only advanced his own research but also fostered dialogue on shared challenges in teacher education across different national contexts.
A highlight of the visit was Jakub’s guest lecture, delivered to an audience of approximately 150 prospective teachers. In this presentation, he shared the aims, findings, and implications of his ongoing research on novice teacher development, receiving valuable feedback and engaging in lively discussion.
Beyond his research activities, Jakub actively participated in local teaching sessions and observed university instruction in various formats, gaining a deeper understanding of German higher education practices. His visit also included time to explore the city of Jena, renowned for its vibrant academic community and rich cultural heritage.
This international visit represents a valuable step in strengthening collaboration between our LAB and the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität, and in supporting early-career researchers in building meaningful academic networks abroad.
