Barbora Nekardová and Jakub Vlček participated in the Open Space Conference 2025 with a presentation entitled Beyond Tools: What Quality Teaching Means and How It Is Created.
They argued that the question of how to teach better, or how to become a better teacher, may at first glance seem normative. In reality, however, it opens space for a deeper reflection on what constitutes teaching quality and which conditions shape its pedagogical potential. Quality teaching does not lie only in the tools we use, but above all in our ability to create a meaningful learning environment that fosters understanding, critical thinking, and active student engagement.
Instead of searching for universal guidelines, attention shifts towards creating spaces that encourage professional growth through reflection and sharing. Team teaching, collegial exchange, and mentoring represent forms of professional development that are based on collective exploration of new pathways in teaching and learning.
